Joshua Rikon has practiced eminent domain and condemnation law exclusively since 2003 when he was admitted to practice as an attorney and counselor at law in the State of New York. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2002 and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hofstra University in 1999. Prior to being admitted to practice, Joshua completed his law school's externship requirement at Steinhardt Pesick & Cohen, P.C., one of Michigan's finest eminent domain, condemnation, and land use law practices.

Joshua is a member of the New York State and American Bar Associations as well as the New York County Lawyers Association. He served as the Vice-Chairman of the Condemnation Committee of the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law, and he is a member of Scribes, the American Society of Legal Writers. (Atlantic Yards Land Use Improvement and Civic Project-Phase 1), 2010 NY Slip Op 50301 (U); and New York State Urban Development Corp. v Nawam Entertainment, Inc., 57 AD3d 249.

In the Matter of City of New York (Sewer Easement between Darlington Avenue and Lamont Avenue) proceeding, Joshua was successful in obtaining two favorable awards for his clients. The first award of $381,724 represented a 102% increase from the condemnor's trial appraisal of $188,724. The second award of $358,712 represented a 71% increase from the condemnor's trial appraisal of $209,212.

Joshua has also been successful in obtaining favorable results for his clients through settlement. For example, in the Matter of City of New York (Udall's Cove Park Preserve Addition) proceeding, Joshua was able to secure a settlement of $4,050,000, plus interest in the amount of $1,666,283.83. The Condemnor's advance payment in that case was $2,735,000.

Joshua was born in New York City, and he currently resides in Irvington, New York with his wife and children.
